A Straightforward Estimate of Income for Indian Bloggers

Today marks the completion of my 6 month affiliation with Google AdSense. Based on my income so far, I have attempted to forecast how long it might take to generate enough income to ditch my job and become a financially independent full-time blogger, earning 1000$+ from your blog.

Current Scenario:

1000 page views = 1$

100 articles = 10,000 page views per month

If you publish 1 article everyday for 3 years
300 x 3 + 100 =1000 articles

Within 3 years, internet user are projected to grow by 50% and Online Advertising Budgets in India are projected to grow by 100%

Therefore
1000 articles = 1,50,000 page views

1,50,000 page views = 200$ per month

Similarly after 6 years,
2000 articles = 4,50,000 page views

4,50,000 page views = 800$ per month

And hence after 9 years,
3000 articles = 10,12,500 pageviws

9,00,000 page views = 1600$ per month

9 years or even 6 years may look like a really long time for a part-time single writer blog to become financially independent. If you do some digging you will yourselves discover that the bloggers who have started earning well today started their blogs almost a decade ago and all of them, without exception have written more than 3000 posts on their blogs.

The only way to do it faster, is by increasing the frequency of your posts. For a full-time blogger it is easily possible to write 2 or 3 posts per day.

A full time blogger can realistically generate 1000$+ monthly income within 3 years.

You can speed up the process further if you reinvest part of your earnings back into the portal, like any other shrewd businessman. Assuming that you decide to reinvest half of your earnings back into the blog, you could pay other experts in your field to write articles on your blog or buy Facebook ads to increase likes to your Facebook page or just put your money into a fixed deposit. Whichever option you think will give the best returns.

The good news!
But fortune favours the brave so don't worry,  After the first hundred articles or so, you will start getting offers for writing guest articles on other portals, that pay handsomely as well as offers for in-links that pay quite well.

Conclusion:
If you have taken to blogging full-time, expect to reach the 1000$ per year threshold in 3 years. Requirement being a supporting spouse or parents!
If you are have taken it up as a part-time activity, you will need 5 to 8 years to make it to 1000$ per month. Which is still fantastic, if you look at it as an early retirement!
